Watchy is an app for showing clients how many hours have been worked. Built for freelancers and small businesses using FreeAgent, they can expose their timeslips to clients so that clients can be kept up to date on paid and unpaid invoices, and billable work as it’s accrued that has not yet been invoiced. In addition, Watchy provides visual reporting and analytics for the freelancer/business, so that they can keep tabs on a variety of useful time and billing based metrics.
Technology:
Rails 3, Mongo, Redis, jQuery
Responsibilities:
I was responsible for the entire development of the site, building the app from scratch in Rails 3, using MongoDB as the backend data store, and using Redis for caching to keep the site and it’s large amounts of data and calculations running quickly. The app is a joint venture between KickCode and Capra.
Partners:
I worked with Capra on this application, with Capra doing the outstanding design, and user interface/experience for the application.
